The Old North Yakima Historic District was created and placed on the National Register on May 2, 1986, by the National Park Service, U.S. Department of Interior, and the Senator Apartments, also known as the Hotel Sydney, is a contributing member. The Hotel Sydney was built for Mrs. Julia Miller in 1909-1910 for $35,000.00. Built to serve traveling businessmen, it had hot and cold water in every room, and rates were $1.00 a day.
