From 1923 to 1950, the former Kuser Mansion, renamed the State Building, was the center of activity at High Point State Park for more than thirty years. It housed park offices, with a reception area, dining room, and museum on the first floor, commission offices and additional meeting rooms on the second floor, and rentable bedrooms on the third floor. In winter it also served as a ski lodge. Nearby were a concession stand, swings and see-saws, a bear enclosure, other small captive animals, and picnic areas. Restrooms stood to the west, and stairs led down to the public beach on Lake Marcia on the side of the lake closest to the mansion.
