China Town begins
History
1
In the 1870s, Henry Aronson ran a general merchandise store at 527 Main Street, and at the rear of his store stood a small wooden warehouse. According to local historian Will Weider, an unknown Chinese immigrant rented the building as a home. It is believed that both the dwelling and its occupant later moved a block west into the alley, to the location that would become China Town.
