Boiler Bay State Scenic Viewpoint is an Oregon state park on the coast about 1 mile north of Depoe Bay, overlooking the inlet called Boiler Bay. The bay was named for the wreck of the schooner J. Marhoffer, a 175-foot vessel that ran aground there on May 18, 1910, when the cove was known as Brigg's Landing, after a fire spread through its engine room. Soon after, the ship's fuel tanks exploded, and debris was reportedly thrown from nearly half a mile to as much as a mile inland. Parts of the wreck remained, including the boiler still visible at extreme low tide.
