SPC. Jameson Lindskog, the first Pleasanton native killed in Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom, received the Silver Star for heroism after he ran into heavy enemy fire on 29 March 2011 to provide medical aid to fallen soldiers. Even after being mortally wounded, he refused evacuation and continued giving medical aid and instruction to others until he died from his injury. He was proud to be an EMT and to serve his country as an Army Combat Medica in the 101st Airborne.
