The Bernstein Building, built by Morris Bernstein in 1852, is the oldest brick building in Winnfield. Bernstein immigrated to America in 1849 from Prussia, settled in Winnfield, and built the structure for his mercantile business on one corner of the town's crossroads. He and his family became prominent citizens in Winnfield.
