Founded in 1948 in Worthington near Columbus, the Ohio Railway Museum is one of North America’s oldest railway preservation groups to both collect historic equipment and operate a railroad line. Beginning as the Central Ohio Railfans Association on the former Columbus, Delaware and Marion Railway grounds, it developed a mission centered on preserving and using historic rail vehicles, especially those tied to Ohio, in public programs and events. Its notable equipment includes Ohio Public Service car 21, a 1905 interurban car, Norfolk and Western 578, the last surviving locomotive of its class, and other industrial and street railway vehicles that together reflect Ohio’s diverse rail history.
