Highbank Park Works is a prehistoric earthwork complex in central Ohio on the east bank of the Olentangy River, surviving as a semi-elliptical embankment with a shallow ditch in a striking landscape of ravines and a shale bluff. Built between 800 and 1300 CE by people associated with the Cole culture, it has long mattered to archaeologists because its wall-and-ditch form resembles central Ohio sites linked to the Hopewell tradition, raising questions about the relationship between the two. Its unusual lack of disturbance has preserved its value, and limited excavations in 1951 and 2011 helped investigate its use and chronology.
