Private Jacob C. Miller of Company G, 113th Illinois Infantry, a member of the Grand Army of the Republic, received the Congressional Medal of Honor on August 20, 1984, for gallantry in the charge of the volunteer storming party at the Battle of Vicksburg on May 22, 1863. Corporal Harry Bossard of the Army was killed in action in France during the Meuse Argonne Offensive on August 11, 1918. Major Delmar George Booze of the Marine Corps was missing in action at DaNang, South Vietnam, on January 24, 1966. 1st Lieutenant Mark A. Noziska of the Army was killed in action at Malajat, Afghanistan, on August 30, 2010. Specialist Joseph B. Cemper of the Army was killed in action at FOB Gamberi, Afghanistan, on April 16, 2011.
