Boreas Mountain is a 13,082-foot peak in Colorado’s Front Range, in Park County near Breckenridge and just east of Boreas Pass and the Continental Divide. Rising more than 2,000 feet in about a mile, it stands out within the high country terrain managed by Pike National Forest. Runoff from its slopes feeds tributaries of Tarryall Creek in the South Platte River basin. The mountain has an alpine subarctic climate, with snowy winters, cool to warm summers, year-round precipitation, and frequent summer thunderstorms. Its name comes from nearby Boreas Pass, itself named after the Greek god of the cold north wind.
