Sahalie Falls, also called Upper Falls, is a plunge waterfall on Oregon’s McKenzie River near the eastern edge of the Willamette National Forest along Oregon Route 126. About one mile below Clear Lake and one-half mile above Koosah Falls, it drops seventy-three feet in a single plunge and carries a year-round flow of about five hundred sixty cubic feet per second. The Chinook Jargon name means “up,” “above,” or “heaven.” Easily reached by a short trail, with views from a railing near the top and a maintained downstream viewpoint, it has become one of the best-known and most visited stops along this stretch of river.
