Erb's Covered Bridge carries Erb's Bridge Road over Hammer Creek north of Rothsville in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Originally built in 1849 on land associated with the Erb family, it was rebuilt in 1887 by John G. Bowman, giving it much of its present form. The Erb name traces to Jacob Erb, a Swiss immigrant child who arrived in 1728 and later became a landowner, mill operator, farmer, and Pennsylvania legislator after the Revolutionary War. The county-owned bridge has a single span with wooden double Burr arch trusses and steel hanger rods, and its traditional red-and-white appearance and 19th-century timber construction helped earn National Register recognition in 1980.
