Also known as the Log Cabin Bridge, Zook's Mill Bridge was built in 1849 near Henry Zook's Mill on Cocalico Creek after Lancaster County sought proposals in April 1849. County bridge records indicate that the mill owner built the bridge for $700, though a January 1850 newspaper account reports a payment of $690. It is one of the county's earliest surviving covered bridges, but it lacks the hand-hewn timbers and hardware that might be expected of a bridge built in 1849. The bridge was repaired many times, including substantial work by Elias McMellen in 1892 at a cost of $930. A mill once stood on each side of the bridge. Zook's Mill, later known as Wenger's Mill, stood on the Warwick Township side of the creek until 1970, while a short distance upstream on the West Earl Township side a fulling mill produced woolen fabric for suits, shirts, and blankets. The Burr arch truss bridge crosses Cocalico Creek and was filled with six and a half feet of water during Tropical Storm Agnes in 1972.
