Chimney Hill is a 1,346-foot mountain in Pontotoc County, Oklahoma, whose prominence made it a longstanding landmark on the old California Road. Earlier maps identified it as Natural Mound, reflecting how clearly it stood out to travelers and cartographers. Because it was so visible across the surrounding landscape, it also served as an important reference point in many land surveys. In 1920, the United States Coast and Geodetic Survey established the Mound Triangulation Station on the hill. Chimney Hill remains significant chiefly as a historic travel and surveying landmark in south-central Oklahoma.
