Eagletail Mountains Wilderness is a protected desert landscape in central-west Arizona, about 65 miles west of Phoenix. Encompassing 100,600 acres, it includes nearly all of the Eagletail Mountains, nearby plains to the southwest, and border features such as Cemetery Ridge. The area lies at the southeastern edge of the Ranegras Plain in the headwaters of Bouse Wash and beside the northwestern border of the Gila Bend Mountains, placing it where open plain and rugged mountain country meet. Though remote, it parallels part of Interstate 10 and remains significant for the scale and continuity of its preserved mountains, ridges, and desert plains.
