The Korean War, remembered here as the Forgotten War, lasted from June 25, 1950, to July 27, 1953, during which 33,741 Americans were killed in action, 2,835 died from non-hostile causes, and 103,283 Americans were wounded. Men and women of Kern County served their country during the war, and those from the county who were killed in action are named. The conflict also included United Nations allies from Australia, Belgium, Canada, Columbia, Ethiopia, France, Great Britain, Greece, Holland, Luxemburg, New Zealand, the Philippines, South Africa, Thailand, Turkey, and medical service contingents from Denmark, India, Italy, Norway, and Sweden.
