Located three and one half miles north, the first storage reservoir in Utah was begun in 1871 and completed in enlarged form in 1886. After going out three times, it had a dam 127 feet long and 28 feet high, made of earth and rocks, at a cost of $10,000. The reservoir was 1½ miles long and had a capacity of 1566 acre feet. The original building committee consisted of Bishop William F. Rigby, Franklin W. Young, Stephen Catt, Swen Jacobs, and John Jenkins. The first caretakers and watermasters were John Griffin, A.P. Welshman, and Jonas N. Beck.
