Cherry Peak Resort is a community-oriented ski area in Cherry Canyon east of Richmond in northern Utah, developed to serve local skiers from Logan, Utah State University, and Cache Valley. Property owner John Chadwick began pursuing licenses and agreements in 2009, and despite local opposition and delays from final preparations and a low-snow winter, ski operations began on December 21, 2015. Starting with two lifts and five runs, the resort expanded by the 2016–17 season to three lifts and 29 groomed runs. Smaller than Utah’s destination resorts, it became significant as a closer, more convenient winter recreation option for northern Utah families and students.
