This Georgian mansion, built about 1815 by Charles A. Wickliffe, became known as the home of three governors: its builder, governor of Kentucky from 1839 to 1840; his son, Robert C. Wickliffe, governor of Louisiana from 1856 to 1860; and his grandson, J. C. W. Beckham, governor of Kentucky from 1900 to 1907. Based on designs of John Rogers and John M. Brown, it features hand-carved woodwork and a stairway with no visible support.
