Chumash Peak is a 1,257-foot mountain northwest of San Luis Obispo, California, on the south side of State Route 1. One of the volcanic plugs called the Nine Sisters, it stands between Cerro Romauldo and Bishop Peak. The mountain received its present name in 1964 to honor the Chumash people who lived in the area, an effort led by Louisiana Dart of the San Luis Obispo County Museum. During the 1970s, part of the peak was quarried for foundation material for new buildings at nearby Cuesta College. Access to the peak is now unavailable.
