Bone Stone Graves is a prehistoric cemetery in southwestern Ohio, northwest of Oregonia, associated with the Fort Ancient culture. The site contains an uncertain number of graves and is especially significant for its limestone stone box graves, a burial form rarely found in the Fort Ancient period. Its importance is increased by other nearby Fort Ancient sites, including Bone Mound II about 500 feet away. Because Fort Ancient sites usually show either a mound or a cemetery rather than both, this area may indicate the presence of people from two different foci. Unexcavated, the cemetery remains a potentially valuable archaeological source.
