The memorial is dedicated to all veterans who served for peace and freedom, honoring veterans of the United States Armed Forces, active duty service members, reservists, prisoners of war and those missing in action, and those who served in World War I from 1917 to 1918, World War II from 1941 to 1945, the Korean War from 1950 to 1953, the Vietnam War from 1955 to 1973, the Gulf War from 1990 to 1991, and the Global War on Terror from 2001 to the present.
