Ohmer Mountain, a 2,572-foot peak in New York's Adirondacks northeast of Northville, is chiefly noted in public records for its brief role in forest fire observation. In October 1911, the Conservation Commission built a wooden fire lookout tower on its summit. That use was short-lived, however, and fire lookout operations ended in 1916 when arrangements could not be made to keep the tower maintained. The following year, a steel fire lookout tower on nearby Hadley Mountain replaced the earlier wooden tower on Ohmer Mountain, shifting the area's fire observation work away from this summit.
