Chair Mountain is a 12,727-foot peak in the Elk Mountains, a rugged subrange of the Rocky Mountains in western Colorado. Located in the Raggeds Wilderness within Gunnison National Forest, it rises about 5 miles west-southwest of Marble. The summit is recognized as a prominent peak in the Elk Mountains and stands within the protected high, steep country that characterizes this part of Colorado. Its proximity to Marble also ties it to one of the region’s best-known small mountain towns.
