Lewis and Clark in Kentucky — Mulberry Hill / Mulberry Hill
Parkway Village, Kentucky
History
9
Mulberry Hill was the home of John and Ann Clark and their family, including sons George Rogers and William Clark. The Clarks built the house about 1785, and William Clark lived there from 1785 to 1803 before becoming a leader of the Lewis and Clark Expedition to the west from 1803 to 1806. It was also the home of York, Clark's slave, who went with the Corps of Discovery on the expedition. The family lived here until the 1860s. The remains of the house and outbuildings were razed in 1917 for the World War I facility Camp Zachary Taylor, but the family cemetery remains with the graves of John and Ann Clark and other family members.
