The Jefferson Davis Highway ran from Fairview, Kentucky, to Biloxi, Mississippi. It was erected in 1930 by the United Daughters of the Confederacy. Jefferson Davis was born on June 3, 1808, in Christian, now Todd County, Kentucky, and died on December 6, 1889, in New Orleans, Louisiana. He graduated from West Point in 1828, served in the Indian Wars and the Mexican War, was a hero of Buena Vista and Monterey, became Secretary of War in 1853, United States Senator from Mississippi in 1857, and President of the Confederate States of America from 1861 to 1865.
