The sneakbox is a one-person hunting boat indigenous to Barnegat Bay, where it has been made since 1836. Easily navigable and able to operate in shallow water, it took its name from its ability to sneak up on ducks. Its camouflage cover further improved its ability to approach waterfowl undetected. The sneakbox exemplified the local ingenuity and adaptability that defined the early baymen. This example was built by Gus Heinrichs at Tuckerton Seaport in 2001 and donated in memory of Leonard Paul Potter in 2021.
