Colonel Conger House

Colonel Everton J. Conger, who commanded the troops that captured Abraham Lincoln's assassin, John Wilkes Booth, built this house in 1871. He practiced law in Carmi, became a Federal judge in Montana Territory, and later moved to Hawaii where he was an advisor to Queen Liliuokalani. This house was remodeled in 1941.
