The citizens of Warren County dedicated this monument on the eleventh day of November, nineteen hundred and ninety eight, to the veterans of Warren County who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of basic freedoms: life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. They also expressed gratitude to all Warren County veterans who have served their country since the nation’s birth and to those who may be called to guard its shores in the future. It honors countless Americans who gave their lives so others might live in peace, pledges that prisoners of war still unaccounted for and those missing in action will never be forgotten, and records by name Warren County dead from World War I, World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War, along with Martin O. May, identified with the Congressional Medal of Honor.
