Jenny Jump Mountain is a ridge-like mountain in Warren County, New Jersey, rising 1,129 feet and spanning parts of several townships. Part of the New York–New Jersey Highlands within the Appalachian Mountains, it stands somewhat apart from the Highlands’ main mass to the west. By 1834 it was already recognized as a notable regional landmark, described as stretching about 10 miles from northeast to southwest into Independence Township. Today, portions of the mountain are preserved in Jenny Jump State Forest, maintaining its place as both a natural feature and public landscape. Its name also entered popular culture through John R. Neill’s New Jersey girl character Jenny Jump, introduced in The Wonder City of Oz in 1940.
