Science & Tech
Wilbur Wright was honored for his contribution as co-inventor of powered flight. His father, Bishop Milton Wright, wrote of him on May 30, 1912, as a man of short life full of consequences, with an unfailing intellect, imperturbable temper, great self-reliance and equal modesty, seeing the right clearly and pursuing it steadily. A block of Indiana limestone associated with him had been part of a memorial at the Wilbur Wright birthplace that celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of flight in 1953.
