Ashland Covered Bridge in Ashland, Delaware, carries Barley Mill Road over Red Clay Creek and is among the state's notable survivors of 19th-century bridge building. Built about 1860 with a Town lattice truss based on Ithiel Town's design, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973. When documented in 1965, it was one of Delaware's last three surviving covered bridges, underscoring its importance in the state's transportation history. Standing beside the Ashland Nature Center, it has endured repeated damage from oversized trucks, a snowplow, and flooding and debris during Hurricane Ida, requiring temporary closures and repairs.
