Presbyterian pioneers organized Buffalo Church in 1773, but Indian raids broke up the congregation. It resumed with its first regular pastor in 1787. A log church dating to about 1774 was replaced by a stone church in 1816 and by a brick church in 1846, which stands a mile to the north.
