Liberty Trust Company Bell
History
4
The bell was cast in 1922 by the McShane Bell Foundry of Baltimore and hung in the tower of Liberty Trust Company at 830 Hamilton St. in Allentown. The bank was founded in 1919, and the building’s façade was altered three years later to evoke Independence Hall. Before the building was demolished in the 1960s, Allentown furniture manufacturer Louis J.G. Buehler purchased its tower, but after a fire in a storage building only the bell itself and the steam engine displayed in the Museum survived.
