A church has stood here since the early 1800s. It was constructed as a one-room church in 1901 and expanded into a cruciform structure in 1929. The name Ai refers to an Old Testament hilltop Canaanite royal city. The adjacent cemetery includes the 1819 grave of Nathan Dillon, son of Daniel Dillon, the first owner of the Old Mill.
