Lynchburg Covered Bridge in Lynchburg, Ohio, spans the East Fork of the Little Miami River and was built in 1870 by Hillsboro bridge builder John C. Gregg as a Long truss. Later repairs and restoration converted it into a pseudo-suspension structure considered unique among covered bridges in North America. Threatened with demolition in 1963, it survived after sustained local opposition, then was closed to vehicles once a new bridge opened in 1969. After severe wind damage in 1974, it was repaired through donations, fundraising, and volunteer labor. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976, it has since become a center of community events and county-line traditions.
