Since the late 1800s, parties were often held at local schoolhouses and parks as well as private homes and hotels, and the tradition of holding festivities at the old Orinda School Playground, now Orinda Community Park, continues today with church festivals, annual 4th of July festivities, and Concerts in the Park.
