Auchumpkee Creek Covered Bridge, also long known as the Hootenville Covered Bridge, is a historic covered road bridge near Thomaston, Georgia, crossing Auchumpkee Creek in the Hootenville area. Built in 1892 as a fully enclosed Town lattice truss, it measured 120 feet 9 inches and rested on two native stone piers reinforced with cement. Its simple rural construction and traditional form made it one of Georgia’s notable covered bridges, and it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975. After a flood destroyed it in 1994, it was rebuilt in 1997 with original timbers and traditional methods, preserving much of its historic character.
