A rectangular coal-and-wood house built of rough saw-mill lumber once stood here. After gas heating was introduced, it was used for general storage. In early fall, Bulltown families traditionally gathered wood for their stoves, hauling timber from the woods with horses, cutting it into smaller pieces, and stacking it outside their homes. Neighbors also obtained coal from one another's farms, using teams of horses, mules, or oxen to uncover shallow deposits as an inexpensive heating fuel compared to available alternatives, especially company-mined coal.
