A 200 foot, single-span Baltimore truss bridge built by the Youngstown Steel Company in 1896 once stood here. The Baltimore truss design had been patented in the 19th century by the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad and adapted for highway use for crossings that required longer spans. The bridge connected Cambridge Springs with the mineral spas on the north side of French Creek. The structure was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.
