Wllis Webster Munson was born at Otisco on August 13, 1841, and died at Bath on February 28, 1920. He served in the Civil War with the 44th Regiment New York Volunteers from 1862 to 1865, graduated from the Medical Department of Columbia University in 1869, and practiced medicine in Otisco for forty years. He was remembered as a scholar, patriot, physician, scientist, and a soldier in peace as in war, alongside Voltaire’s praise for those who restore health by skill and humanity.
