This park preserves the history of a mill complex that included the Upper Dam, Mill Unity from about 1765 to 1892, the First Grist Mill from 1788, Mill Industry from about 1783 to 1905, the Pope Gang Mill from about 1830 to 1908, the Pope Grist Mill, the Lower Dam from 1803, Mill Perseverance from about 1800 to 1874, Mill Four Brothers from about 1805 to 1874, the Foster Grist Mill from about 1818 to 1900, the Foster Lath Mill, Mill Liberty from 1808 to about 1894, the Wilson Carding and Fulling Mill from about 1830 to about 1931, and the Whittemore Mill from about 1830 to about 1930.
