Needle's Eye Wilderness is an 8,760-acre Arizona wilderness in the Mescal Mountains southeast of Globe, distinguished by steep relief, river-cut canyons, and a prominent dip slope of Paleozoic limestone rising more than 2,500 feet along the southwest side. Its southern boundary is the Gila River, which cuts through the mountains in three narrow canyons about 1,000 feet deep, together called the Needle's Eye. A dense riparian corridor follows the river, and small slickrock canyons descend to meet the Gila. The area is unusual for its restricted access, enclosed by the San Carlos Apache Indian Reservation and private land, requiring advance permission to enter.
