A World War II memorial was displayed in front of the Village Town Hall, which housed the fire department, post office, library, jail, and Ridgefield Township office before the building was destroyed by fire on December 3, 1946. The memorial survived the fire except for a scorch mark in the lower right panel. In the late sixties, Joe Gerber and Joe Gravenhorst found it in the old fire siren building and moved it to the electric department, from there it went to the Hess Hardware Store Museum, and then to the legion attic.
