Mossy Creek Bank promoted itself with the slogan "Safe, Sound, Solid, Conservative" and advertised a fireproof vault, burglar-proof safe, and time locks to attract customers to open bank accounts. Its services included loans, stocks, and bonds. During its early years, one of Mossy Creek's most prominent citizens, Judge Milton Preston Jarnigan, served as the bank's president and in 1882 purchased the Victorian house Glenmore Mansion.
