Ganoga Lake is a spring-fed glacial lake on Pennsylvania’s Allegheny Plateau, notable as one of the state’s highest natural lakes and for its close connection to the landscape of Ricketts Glen. Once known as Robinson’s Lake and later Long Pond, it lay beside the old Susquehanna and Tioga Turnpike and became part of the Ricketts family estate in the 1850s. Robert Bruce Ricketts turned its shore into a summer resort and renamed the lake Ganoga in 1881. Its glacially altered drainage helped form the waterfalls below, and Ricketts’s decision to protect nearby woods aided preservation of the glens that later became the heart of Ricketts Glen State Park.
