The Sonestown Covered Bridge, also called the Davidson Covered Bridge, is a mid-19th-century covered wooden bridge over Muncy Creek in Davidson Township, Pennsylvania, built about 1850 to reach Johnny Hazen’s gristmill. The shortest of Sullivan County’s three surviving covered bridges, it uses a Burr arch truss with unusually rough construction, including angled straight beams instead of smooth curved arches. It survived major floods in 1865 and 1889 and outlasted the mill it once served. Repeated flood damage and repairs marked its modern history, and after worsening structural decline, it was open only to pedestrians by 2020. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980, it endures as a significant remnant of Pennsylvania’s covered-bridge era.
