Spanish Mount Point, also known as Spanish Mount, is a prehistoric archaeological site at Edisto Beach State Park on Edisto Island, South Carolina. An oyster-and-clam shell midden about 27 meters long and 3 meters high, it stands on ground bordered by water and marsh on three sides. Dating to roughly 2200 to 1800 BC, it reflects a transitional period in the region’s prehistory. The midden seems to have formed during a short-term occupation and preserves evidence of how people used this coastal setting thousands of years ago. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.
