Quandary Peak is a 14,271-foot mountain in Colorado, the highest summit of the Tenmile Range and the thirteenth-highest peak in the state. Located in White River National Forest south-southwest of Breckenridge, it became one of Colorado’s best-known fourteeners because its standard class 1 route up the east ridge is relatively easy to reach and climb. The mountain is also a major destination for backcountry skiing and snowboarding, with gentler slopes on its east side and steeper lines such as the Cristo Couloir drawing experts. Its popularity brought heavy use, with 49,179 hiker days in 2020 and new parking policies in 2021 to manage access.
