History
Natirar is a 491-acre estate in Somerset County, New Jersey, extending across Peapack-Gladstone, Far Hills, and Bedminster near the North Branch of the Raritan River. Developed between 1905 and 1912 for Kate Macy Ladd and Walter Graeme Ladd, it later gained philanthropic importance when Kate Ladd used Maple Cottage as a free convalescent home for working women of limited means. After passing through the Kate Macy Ladd Fund and then Moroccan royal ownership, the property was sold to Somerset County in 2003. Today it combines a large public park with a redeveloped historic core that includes hospitality uses, reflecting its unusual blend of estate, charitable, royal, and public history.
